RNZAF's Black Falcons air acrobatic team to star at Classics of the Sky

Some of New Zealand's best pilots will take to the skies over Tauranga next weekend for the Classics of the Sky airshow at Classic Flyers in Mount Maunganui.
Classic Flyers is thrilled to announce the Royal New Zealand Air Force will deploy its Black Falcons aerobatic team to the annual Tauranga City Air Show. The event take place on Saturday January 20.
The Black Falcons will be flying Beech Texan T6Cs, imported in 2015.
The Falcons have yet to be displayed as a team in Tauranga and “to have them perform for ‘Classics of the Sky’ is a real privilege”, says Classic Flyers marketing manager Amy Scott.
The RNZAF plans to involve other aircraft as part of their contribution to the airshow's displays.
Among anexcellentline-up of ex-military and aerobatic aircraft will be another crowd favourite; the “Roaring Forties” Harvard aerobatic team.
Those going to the airshow will be able to witness three Avengers together for the first time since the 1950s! These include the airworthy example performing a bombing run and flying display, a second Avenger completely restored to static display status and a third aircraft in the early stages of restoration.
Joining the Avengers on the day will be other Classic Flyers static and operational exhibits including engine runs from the Aermacchi jet and P40 Kittyhawk.
There will be more spectacular Tiger Moth displays, watch the impressive Czech built L-39 Albatross jet in action and a Yak 55M will be performing stunts and racing a car on the runway.
Organisers say visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic, or they can purchase food and drink on site.
Classic Flyers will have a limited bar facility and people are not permitted to bring their own alcohol. Pets and smoking on site are prohibited.
Gates open at 1.30pm with the Airshow starting at 3.00pm.
Tickets available in advance from www.eventfinda.co.nz and from the Gift shop at Classic Flyers. Gate sales on the day, TECT cards can be presented to gain a $5.00 discount.

Plenty of free parking is available on site. Access in Seawind Lane at Tauranga Airport.
