Paihia Duck is an amphibious vehicle that can not only drive along
roads, but then take you over the glorious waters of the Bay of
Islands.
How
about this - the Paihia Duck can zoom along keeping up with other
vehicles on a freeway and then once it finds a boat ramp can push
through the water at six knots.
The
Paihia Duck can carry a maximum of 34 people and is rated for all
weather conditions.
Each
trip on the Paihia Duck takes about 1.5 hours and includes tikitouring
around some terrific scenery as well as historical sites - including
Waitangi and Russell.
From
September to May there are daily trips from the Maritime Building,
beside the Paihia Wharf in Marsden Road, Paihia.
In
June, July and August the Paihia Duck is available on demand.
