It
is pretty hard to miss Airey's Inlet as you head on down the road
as it has a very noticeable lighthouse on a hill overlooking it.
It
is the Split Point Lighthouse and is a splendid white tower crowned
with a vibrant red roof.
You
can walk up to it from a car park and there are several tracks you
can take to explore the area around it.
A
short walk from the lighthouse, which is also known as the White
Lady, you can see what will one day be an apostle-like rock formation
connected to the land by low lying rocks that are being eroded away
by the waves.
There
are about 1100 residents of Airey's Inlet and the popular local
beach is Fairhaven. You do need to be on your guard there as there
can be strong rips.
